The questions included in the sustainability literacy assessment(s) :

Which of the following is the most commonly used definition of sustainable development?
Which of the following countries has now passed the U.S. as the biggest emitter of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide?
What is the most common cause of pollution of streams and rivers?
Which of the following is the most commonly used definition of economic sustainability?

A brief description of how the assessment(s) were developed:

We used a sampling of the same questions used by many AASHE institutions.
(Roosevelt University, UW-La Crosse, The Ohio State University, University of Maryland, etc). We choose to do this so we could compare our results to a broader sampling.

A brief description of how the assessment(s) were administered:

We conducted on online survey administered to a representative sampling of all UW-Platteville students during April of 2015. Specifically, the survey was administered to 1,507 students that were equally distributed across gender and enrollment year. Each student could only respond once and responses were kept anonymous (we could not connect responses to individuals). We had a response rate of 20.23%.

A brief summary of results from the assessment(s):

The majority of our students answered the questions correctly, with a 64-76% correct response on the first three of the four questions, the fourth question, "Which of the following is the most commonly used definition of economic sustainability?" had only a 45% correct response.
