A brief description of the companies, funds, and/or institutions referenced above:

University of Wisconsin Oshkosh has invested in a commercial-scale dry anaerobic biodigester that produces biogas from organic waste, which is then used to produce renewable electricity. The electricity is sold through the grid to Wisconsin Public Services at a market rate that allows the institution to recoup the investment. Once the investment is recovered (in perhaps 8-10 years), revenues will be diverted to student scholarships. The current value of the digester is $4,914,490 from the original cost of $4,885,679.32, which $1,834,862 was paid for with grants. The total value of the investment is, therefore $3,584,628.

The second investment involves a smaller biodigester that the UWO Foundation has made in the amount of $500,000 that was matched with an additional $500,000 coming from other investors. This smaller digester is on a small farm in Winnebago County near Oshkosh and will produce renewable energy for the farm with surplus revenues returning to the Foundation to initially recover the investment and later to go to scholarships.
