A brief description of how the employee educators are selected (1st program):
UWM has its own Green Office Certification, developed out of the institution's priorities. Divisions/Departments participating in Green Office Certification nominate a "green team," formally designating employees to serve as the department's outreach liaisons, peer-educators, and implementation team. Departments opt into the program if they so choose. As of June 2016, employees in Finance & Administrative Affairs, Student Affairs, and the School of Continuing Education have participated in Green Office Certification. Departments must re-certify "Green Office" designation every three years. Departmental or divisional green teams continue outreach and education efforts between certifications (green teams meet to plan events, lead outreach initiatives, etc).

None
A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive (1st program):
When the department selects a representative Green Team to take on the certification, participants take on a 2-hour training session with the Chief Sustainability Officer. The training covers basic knowledge of sustainability as well as in-depth training on each of the Green Office categories (Energy, IT, Waste, Transportation, Food and Dining, Purchasing, etc). Training continues through department orientations when new people come on board. Each department that has gone through the Green Office Certification maintains their Green Team past their award.

None
