A brief description of how multiple stakeholder groups were involved in developing the plan:
The sustainability plan was utilized early on in the sustainability program by bringing campus students, staff, and faculty together through the Environmental Sustainability Committee. Sections were broken off into subcommittees to report to the whole group and plan. The sustainability plan was adopted and developed further by the Master Plan and not a stand alone document.

A brief description of the plan’s measurable goals :
Goal: To implement sustainability as a core institutional value to all UWM planning, operations, and academics that places UWM as a critical stakeholder and example in the region’s education and workforce development.
Main Objectives
1) Increase student, staff, and faculty awareness and education regarding the environment, sustainability, and human impact on our natural resources and community
2) Develop and strengthen resources for expanding a sustainable UWM Campus and Community (short and long term)
- Human resources- employment opportunities for new staff and student workers
- Space resources- As needed for waste management, and other projects
- Monetary resources- Internal and external
3) Establish new and expand existing Community Partnerships, including area schools, non-profits, and businesses
4) Utilize the interdisciplinary nature of sustainability to reach out to all areas of Academics on campus
5) Bridge internal and external inherent gaps to foster new communication and problem solving techniques
6) Establish relevance to City and regional priorities (M7) in workforce and economic development

The sustainability plan was enveloped into the Master Plan for adaptation and measurement. The master plan's implementation is the ongoing responsibility of Facilities, Planning, and Management. Goals are upheld through campus shared governance, particularly the Physical Environment Committee.
