A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
UW-Milwaukee High School Sustainability Camp in 2012 was a newly designed 4-day overnight camp sponsored by UWM's Division of Student Affairs. 35 students from around the Midwest emerged on campus to learn about sustainability through science, art, and humanities. Student had hands on experience testing Lake Michigan lake water, mapping their own resources, tie-dying bandannas with natural products, hiking though natural urban river trails, and making their lunch with campus urban agriculture gardens. Follow up survey results showed a measurable understanding of sustainability and a desired impact on a variety of high school students.
