A brief description of the methodology used to track and calculate the number of recordable incidents of work-related injury or ill health :
The Risk Management team at UW-Madison manages Worker's Compensation for employees and UW-System's Risk Management (UWSA) team collects and maintains data on OSHA recordables across all UW-System schools utilizing the Riskonnect software.
UWSA provides the reporting structure that each campus uses. The various campus environmental health & safety departments provide the forms to the claimant and acts as a point of contact for the claim. The campus reviews the injury with the employee and/or the supervisor (and completes an investigation if warranted) and then completes a safety manager’s review form, which is submitted to UWSA, as part of the process. UWSA records and compiles the injury logs and distributes them to each campus and they are displayed or provided to employees as required by OSHA.
