A brief description of the policies and/or guidelines to improve outdoor air quality and minimize air pollutant emissions from mobile sources:
The City of Madison maintains an anti-idling ordinance (https://library.municode.com/wi/madison/codes/code_of_ordinances?nodeId=COORMAWIVOIICH11--19_CH12VECO_GERESTPA_12.1291MOVEID) but it does not have to apply to UW-Madison campus and is not consistently enforced on campus.
Part 2

A brief description of the methodology(ies) the institution used to complete its air emissions inventory:
The data reported above is from the most recent inventory of emissions from campus stationary sources. The inventory was completed for 2017 as a result of three campus air emission permits executed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR):
- UW Safety Management (FID# 113103430)
- UW Walnut St. Plant (FID# 113134230)
- UW Charter St. Plant (FID# 113008390)
(Historical data is available at the link provided in the "Optional" section below and each facility can be identified by FID#)
All data reported above are in Short Tons. Only the Charter St. Plant produced reportable emissions in 2017. The "other" data reported includes 10.87 tons of PM10, 9.04 tons of Reactive Organic Gases (ROG), 4.25 tons of Ammonia, and 3.61 tons of Nitrousoxide.
Emissions data was collected utilizing the Wisconsin DNR Air Reporting System. Details on the calculation methodology can be found here: https://dnr.wi.gov/files/PDF/pubs/am/AM498.pdf
