The Wisconsin Department of Administration, Division of Facilities Development has established a sustainable building rating system for new construction and major building remodels that is consistent with LEED standards set by the U.S. Green Building Council. Documentation is available at:

Per Wisconsin Department of Administration, Division of Facilities Development Policy, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse determines its desire to pursue and must internally fund LEED certification through the US Green Building Council.

A brief description of how the institution ensures compliance with green building design and construction guidelines and policies:
Specifications for materials and construction practices are detailed in project bid documents. The Wisconsin Department of Administration, Division of Facilities Development Project Manager ensures the contractor(s) awarded the project complies with the specifications. Bid compliance is verified throughout the construction process and at project end, punch lists are reviewed and approved by the University officials to ensure adherence to specifications and to approve the quality of work completed.
