The Wisconsin Department of Administration, Division of Facilities Development has established a sustainable building rating system for new construction and major building remodels that is consistent with LEED standards set by the U.S. Green Building Council. Documentation is available at:

The State of Wisconsin requires the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse to complete an Energy Cost Reduction plan as required by 2005 Wisconsin Act 141. The statute [s. 16.75 (12) (a) 1] requires that each agency complete a plan every even numbered year. The Plan documentation includes an Energy Cost Plan, Energy Cost Reduction Plan Worksheet, and an Energy Conservation Opportunities/ Narrative Spreadsheet.

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is committed to green buildings by incorporating elements of energy efficiency design standards on all new construction and applicable renovation projects. The following buildings have been built to LEED standards but were not certified; Reuter Hall (Student Housing), Veterans Memorial Stadium, Student Recreation Center, and the Police/Parking Ramp.
Additionally, UW La Crosse is subject to the "Sustainable Facilities Standards" maintained by the State of Wisconsin Dept. of State Facilities.
Furthermore, the University is building several new facilities or complete renovation (were noted), that will be designed to and/or pursuing LEED certification. These include a Student Center, Academic Science Building, Student Recreation Center Addition, New Fieldhouse, Residence Hall, and complete renovation of Wittich Hall (academic).
