Sustainability is included as one of the key guiding themes of the University and is part of the University's mission statement:

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay provides an interdisciplinary, problem-focused educational experience that prepares students to think critically and address complex issues in a multicultural and evolving world. The University enriches the quality of life for students and the community by embracing the educational value of diversity, promoting environmental sustainability, encouraging engaged citizenship, and serving as an intellectual, cultural and economic resource. As of Fall 2014, all entering students will be required to have successfully completed a sustainability general education course.

We have set an overall benchmark goal of 85% of or each learning outcome. A student who receives an accomplished, or competent, mark for assessment 75% of the time is considered to meet that learning outcome. This means that our goal is for 85% of our students to meet the standard benchmark 75% or more of the time.

The current Climate Action Plan for the university outlines a 20 percent reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2030. Solid waste is included in this goal.
