Inventory of the institution’s sustainability research:

This inventory is maintained by the UWEC Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. Data on the research being conducted by each faculty person was added by the Administrative Office of Sustainability, primarily using the record of faculty-student collaborative research maintained in the Celebration of Excellence in Research and Creative Activity (CERCA) archive. The descriptions of each project can be found here: https://www.uwec.edu/orsp/students/cerca/cerca-history-abstract-books/

A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:

This inventory is maintained by the UWEC Office of Research and Sponsored Programs for the Princeton Review's Guide to Green Schools. The research inventory does not explicitly include how each project is related to sustainability (though it does include research topics/interests). Instead, ORSP uses the following definition is utilized to determine if the research counts as "sustainability research":
Sustainability research is research and scholarship that explicitly addresses the concept of sustainability, furthers our understanding of the interdependence of ecological and social/economic systems, or has a primary and explicit focus on a major sustainability challenge.”

Due to Covid-19, 2021 has no data. Therefore the years 2020, 2022, and 2023 were utilized.

Each year also has brief descriptions of up to 4 recent notable accomplishments by faculty engaged in sustainability research, providing a more specific snapshot of the types of subject matter being explored by these researchers.

Data on the research being conducted by each faculty person was added to the spreadsheet by the Administrative Office of Sustainability, primarily using the record of faculty-student collaborative research maintained in the Celebration of Excellence in Research and Creative Activity (CERCA) archive. The descriptions of each project can be found here: https://www.uwec.edu/orsp/students/cerca/cerca-history-abstract-books/
