A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
UW-Eau Claire's learning & Technology services provided the Administrative Office of Sustainability with a list of each class offered at UWEC the past 3 fiscal years. All courses with fewer than 4 people, study abroad classes/credits, labs, practicums, internships, directed studies, honors courses (due to variability year to year in content) and independent studies were removed, leaving XXXX classes.
Then, courses explicitly focused on sustainability, as determined by the course catalog or identified by the Administrative Office of Sustainability were identified. Sustainability Inclusive courses have been identified by either staff familiarity with course content, or, more commonly, the course's learning outcome designation as an "R3" - meaning the course " Use critical and creative thinking to address civic, social, and environmental challenges." "Note: these challenges may not explicitly be stated in the course catalog, however the R3 criteria is attached.
