Due to the geographical location; the size of the facility; operational boundaries; as well as facility or land ownership; the following facilities were excluded from the assessment for Western University:

- Plant Field Station,
- Museum of Ontario Archaeology,
- Research Park-London,
- Insurance Research Lab for Better Homes,
- Continuing Studies at Western,
- Elginfield Observatory,
- Delaware Radio Observatory,
- Windermere Manor
- Fanshawe Boat House
- Doug Wells Rowing Centre
- Fraunhofer Project Centre
- Welcome Centre
- University Hospital
The affiliated colleges, Brescia University College, Huron University College and King’s University College were also exempted from the assessment as UWO does not regulate the colleges' operations or facilities.
The following buildings were not included in the scope of this submission, as they were undergoing construction during the time frame selected. These buildings should be considered in the next STARS submission.
