Some environmental dimensions mentioned in the 2007 Report of the Task Force on Strategic Planning include: Western's commitment to preserving 25 acres of land as a nature reserve and "to set an example wherever possible of responsible citizenship, including the area of environmental sensitivity and sustainability. Western is engaged in energy conservation activities on several fronts, including Energy Awareness programs across the campus, recycling, efficiency in building design, and a developing Sustainability initiative" (page 33).

Social dimensions are supported in various parts of the strategic plan that impact students, faculty members, and academic leaders. For instance, Western "is committed to recognize and remove the obstacles faced by traditionally under‑represented groups in order to facilitate their access to and advancement at Western" (page 3) and "to develop special initiatives for the recruitment and support of Aboriginal students and first-generation students" (page 8).

The 2007 Report of the Task Force on Strategic Planning states that Western is committed to societal responsibility "through our teaching, research and service to the community, we aspire to play a significant role in improving the quality of life and fostering economic development in London and this region, in the Province of Ontario, in Canada, and abroad" (page 3).
