A brief description of the program:
The Western Outdoors Club (WOC) exists to promote students' and community members' interests, and encourage their participation in such outdoor pursuits as camping, hiking, canoeing, snowshoeing, cycling, kayaking, white water rafting and more. Monthly (at least) camping trips incorporating the above activities are run by WOC to accomplish this. These trips are run keeping in mind that membership may range in skill from absolute beginner to seasoned veteran, thus WOC strives to structure its events so that members of all experience levels will have an enjoyable time. Additionally, both WOC and many of its experienced members are committed to heightening the knowledge of those who are just starting out through various workshops, pre-trip meetings, and peer education. WOC further facilitates the social connectedness of its membership, holding many social activities throughout the year that any member can, and is encouraged to, attend. Informal group meetings are supported, and the opportunity to play intramurals with fellow members is provided.
It is also customary for all members to leave the site the way it was.
