A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:

A campus wide Employee Engagement Survey was conducted in November, 2023. The survey was conducted via an online survey tool and was administered by an external consulting firm. 100% of all Regular and Temporary employees (with a contract of 1 year or greater) were invited to participate in the anonymous survey.


A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:

Results of the employee engagement survey were shared broadly at the institutional level as well as the departmental level. In departments across the university, many working groups and actions were taken to address departmental level results. At the university level, new initiatives were launched to address the feedback (creation of Leadership Academy program for academic and non academic leaders to address gaps in leadership, new project initiated to support career development based on feedback from 2019 survey called  ‘Strategic Talent and Performance Development,’ increased focus on strategic planning and direction through establishment of integrated planning process to address feedback about lack of understanding of the strategic direction of the institution as well as the creation of the Waterloo at 100 vision.
