The Sustainability Office holds a session each year as part of the annual Staff Conference, highlighting a particular sustainability topic, theme, or resource that would be of interest to employees. In 2024, the session focused on supporting biodiversity and nature. The Sustainability Office also facilitates a Sustainability Certificate training program for employees, which is a two-part series on big picture sustainability challenges/directions, campus progress and relevant programs/initiatives/services, and how individuals and departments can advance sustainability efforts in their own units. The staff in the Sustainability Office are all members of the Ontario College and University Sustainability Professionals organization (https://www.ocusp.org/) where they have access to external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability. Staff members also have the opportunity to puruse the Sustainability Excellence Associate credential (https://sustainability-excellence.gbci.org/sea).
