A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:

All new staff receive information about campus sustainability efforts as part of their in-person orientation. Human Resources provides an overview presentation on campus sustainability during new employee orientation sessions, including key sustainability services available (e.g. discounted bus pass, carpool matching, eco-mug reusable mug program). They have also introduced a new online course with a module on Waterloo’s institutional values and commitments. This module includes a chapter specifically on sustainability, with key messages, stats, and resources.

New faculty also receive sustainability information through an onboarding course which includes a section on sustainability. Waterloo’s Sustainability Office also attends the New Faculty Orientation Resource Fair for new faculty members as a resource booth to answer questions about Waterloo’s sustainability efforts, initiatives, and resources.
