1st campaign
A brief description of the campaign:
The University of Waterloo hosts an annual Bike Month campaign to encourage active and sustainable transportation commuting options. Throughout the month, we share information about programs, resources, and initiatives related to cycling (and active transportation more broadly). In 2024, this included a bike-logging challenge through TravelWise, a free guided bike ride along the Grand River led by Water Cycles, a social media campaign, and a Bike Fair event that brought together 16 campus and community partners that offered free tune-ups, cycling resources and cycling giveaways. The Sustainability Office also distributed “thank you for cycling” tags across bikes on campus. (https://uwaterloo.ca/sustainability/bikemonth)
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
Positive impacts of Bike Month from 2024 included ~1,000 bikes tagged with thank you notes, 350 people in attendance at the Bike Lunch event, roughly 6,800 accounts reached through month-long social media campaign, and # logged their trips for the month-long trip-logging challenge.

2nd campaign
A brief description of the campaign (2nd campaign):
In November 2023, Waterloo hosted its 10th-annual Eco Summit to bring the campus together to celebrate sustainability progress and accelerate sustainability action. The event featured opening remarks from Waterloo’s President, sustainability highlights from the annual report, student and employee panel discussions, booths from sustainability campus partners, and interactive/networking components. The event also featured an award ceremony for participating Green Office and Green Lab units, Green Residence ambassadors, and Living Planet Leader recipients. It was promoted strongly to Green Office departments, as well as faculty and students. (https://uwaterloo.ca/sustainability/events/eco-summit-2023-accelerating-action)
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):
Roughly 200 attendees joined Eco Summit and engaged in a half-day of diverse programming, hearing from different perspectives and culminating with a group brainstorming exercise on personal and collective action. The event received very positive feedback and provide a valuable networking and community building opportunity among a diverse group of campus stakeholders.
