The University of Waterloo’s Director of Sustainability served for two years (2016/17-2017/18) as the Director of Communications for the Ontario College and University Sustainability Professionals, and has co-led the working group on SDG 13 within the University Global Coalition Decade of Action Initiative, alongside University at Buffalo and University Carlos III Madrid (2021). The Dean of Environment also serves as the Chair of SDSN Canada. The Sustainability Director also serves as the Chair of the City of Waterloo’s Sustainability Advisory Committee for 2017-2021. In addition, Waterloo has multiple faculty members who serve on the boards of directors for Sustainable Waterloo Region and Reep Green Solutions, two local environmental non-profits who focus on business and residential sustainability, respectively.
