Does the institution allow commuters to cash out of parking spaces (i.e., it pays employees who do not drive to work)?:
No

A brief description of the program:

Although the University of Washington is legally prohibited from paying people not to drive, it offers parking programs which help community members to think about their mode choice for commuting to school or work each day. One of these programs is the Pay-Per-Use-Parking system (PPUP) in which drivers pay for each day they park, rather than a quarterly unlimited permit. When customers see the real cost of parking, they are encouraged to choose a more sustainable mode a few times each week.
Revenue derived from parking goes on to help fund the University’s transportation infrastructure and subsidizes commute alternatives.
