Yes

A brief description of the assessment process and the framework, scorecard(s) and/or tool(s) used:

Over the past year, the Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion has engaged all schools and units at UVA in the strategic assessment and planning process known nationally as Inclusive Excellence. Each school or unit's Inclusive Excellence plan will address the current status of diversity, equity and inclusion in their part of the broader organization. The Inclusive Excellence plans, containing metrics and benchmarks, will be used to evaluate the schools/units' progress related to diversity, equity, and inclusion inclusive of students, faculty, staff, and community members. See link to more information below.

In addition, the Diversity Data Dashboard at UVA continues to visualize demographic data for undergraduate, graduate students, staff, and faculty. The Diversity Dashboard is available here: https://diversitydata.virginia.edu/ These data are drawn from UVA's Office of Institutional Research and Analytics.

In summer 2020 UVA's President Jim Ryan established the Racial Equity Task Force to examine how to redress the negative impacts of systemic racism on students, faculty, staff, and community members. The task force engaged in public listening sessions with hundreds of participants and issued a final report outlining key recommendations.

In UVA's School of Engineering and Applied Science, a research study was conducted that revealed inequities in GPA attainment among racial and ethnic groups. The research team plans to continue building upon the searchable database it developed, analyzing data, and using results to inform programs/interventions aimed at closing the achievement gaps. An article about the study is available here: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/00091383.2018.1483176?scroll=top&needAccess=true&

The Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion received funding and approval to hire its first Director of Assessment. The position is currently posted and candidate recruitment is in process.

In addition, UVA engages with the Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) Survey to assess the student experience on campus. UVA's Diversity Council added questions pertaining to diversity, equity, and inclusion to the UVA-specific module. UVA's Office of Research and Analytics distributes the survey. The most recently available results for the survey are available here: https://ira.virginia.edu/seru

Faculty are asked at intervals to participate in the Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE) Survey. For additional information about the COACHE Survey and a summary of the most recently available results, see: https://provost.virginia.edu/subsite/faculty-affairs/coache

While the University has engaged in extensive self-study and progressed in many areas, it continues to face challenges resulting from systemic racism.
