A brief description of the institution’s green event certification program:
UVA Sustainability's Zero Waste Training program walks event organizers and student groups through an hour long orientation to discuss best practices in sustainable event-hosting. The training covers topics such as: how to procure compostable materials, how to procure compost bins, how to communicate waste minimization practices with your attendees, and how to create comprehensive signage within your event space. The training is catered to best fit the needs of the receiving group - we have different trainings for staff and faculty, students groups, and dorm spaces. The Office for Sustainability has hosted 50+ Zero Waste Trainings with various groups around Grounds.
