The University of Victoria ("UVic") has two separate investment pools that have separate CIRs:

1. The UVic Working Capital Investments are used to support the growth of our university. The investment earnings help UVic undertake vital capital projects to improve sustainability, research and learning throughout UVic.

The goals of the UVic Working Capital Investments are to:
- preserve capital,
- provide liquidity by investing a portion of the funds in liquid short-term investments that can be converted to cash with no risk of principal loss,
- provide yield at a low level of volatility,
- maintain purchasing power, and
- achieve a commitment of investing at least 25% of the portfolio in thematic impact investments

ii) Designated Executive Officer: Vice-President Finance and Operations of the University of Victoria

2. The UVic Foundation supports UVic in its mission to provide inspired teaching, opportunities for real-life learning and internationally renowned research. Through the UVic Foundation, a donor's vision and subsequent gift becomes a long-term investment that has far-reaching benefits for UVic in perpetuity.

The UVic Foundation was established in 1954 by the University of Victoria Foundation Act ("the Act"). It is responsible for administering over 1,500 endowment funds that disburse funds annually for scholarships, bursaries, and other university purposes. These endowment funds are supported by generous donations from individuals, corporations and foundations that play a vital role in promoting a continued interest in UVic and in higher education more broadly. The UVic Foundation is a registered charitable organization under the Income Tax Act and is exempt from income taxes.

The Act assigns responsibility for management of the UVic Foundation to the Board Members of the UVic Foundation which is a separate group than the Board of Governors of UVic.
