A brief description of the institution’s main campus and other aspects of the institutional boundary used to complete this report:

The University owns 4,488 acres of land and 283 buildings (275 open, one in renovation, seven in design/construction) comprising 6,053,508 gross square feet throughout the state of Vermont. The properties include 956 acres and 240 buildings located in the cities of Burlington and South Burlington, which includes the 462.6-acre Main Campus in Burlington (69 acres of which are the Centennial Woods Natural Area), the 493.5-acre South Campus primarily in South Burlington, and 3,532 acres that are defined as “off-campus.” Off-campus properties include 2.8 acres and eight buildings at Fort Ethan Allen in Essex, 16 acres and one building at the Colchester Research Campus in Colchester, 490 acres and nine buildings at the Jericho Research Forestry Complex in Jericho, 210 acres and nine buildings at the Proctor Maple Research Complex in Underhill, 214 acres and 14 buildings at the Morgan Horse Farm Complex in Weybridge, 20 acres and one building at the Outing Club in Bolton, 2,233 acres of natural areas, 333.5 acres of research property, and 12 acres of gift property, and one field office building in Wolcott. There are a total of 62 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, including 42 buildings on Main Campus, eight buildings at Fort Ethan Allen, and 12 buildings at the Morgan Horse Farm.

The University also leases facilities in 11 counties of the state for the offices of the UVM Extension System. Facilities are also leased for various administrative as well as sponsored research activities.
