A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :
Summer virtual sessions for First Year and Transfers that focused on sustainable transportation, campus dining, and zero waste programs with an emphasis on what sustainable choices students could make before coming to campus and how they can navigate campus more sustainably with the programs available when they arrive. There are also multiple sustainability tables at all new student orientation events (for FY, Transfers and graduate students). Examples include: why First Year students are not permitted to bring a car to campus and how to get around without one for free; our zero waste laundry detergent sheet machine in the student center that includes free memberships for first generation and low income students to address hygiene equity; our food sourcing priorities which include environmental (local, organic, humane) and social (fair trade, WMBE) goals as well as efforts to address food insecurity.
