A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
UVM uses a service called Academic Analytics (AA) to track and compare our research to other institutions. AA staff generated a report of all research in the previous 3 years that matched sustainability keywords we provided and 2315 unique works were returned. Two Office of Sustainability (OS) employees independently verified the report to identify false matches and associate each matched work with a UN SDG. Works by 204 of those researchers were confirmed as being sustainability research. This totaled 38. The home departments of those researchers were used to create the number of departments conducting sustainability research. When multiple researchers/departments were listed as authors of the same work, each were considered to be doing sustainability research. The number of total departments conducting research was determined by counting the total number of departments affiliated within the 1439 researchers, ending up with 52.
