Please note that assured reports are still subject to review by AASHE staff prior to publication, which may require additional revisions. AASHE reserves the right to withhold points for this credit if it is determined that the assurance process was clearly unsuccessful in identifying and resolving inconsistencies or errors (e.g., when AASHE staff identify a significant number of issues that were either not mentioned in the completed review template or not resolved successfully).

Has the institution completed an assurance process that provides independent affirmation that the information in its current STARS report is reported in accordance with credit criteria?:
Yes

Did the assurance process include internal review, an external audit, or both?:
Internal review

The name, title, and organizational affiliation of each reviewer:
Maria Juncos, Sustainability Support Staff, University of Vermont
Caylin McCamp, Education & Outreach Coordinator, University of Vermont
Sal Chiarelli, Director, Physical Plant, University of Vermont
Multiple, Sightlines consulting firm

A brief description of the institution’s assurance process:
Maria is a part time temporary employee doing research, communications and grant writing work for the Office of Sustainability while conducting her doctoral research locally. She has not been involved with the STARS research or data collection process and is new to UVM so could evaluate the submission with fresh eyes and identified many places where we could be more clear or comprehensive. She did assist with the Biodiversity and Research & Scholarship credits, so the other reviewer was used only for those credits. Sal Chiarelli, Director, Physical Plant and consultants at Sightlines reviewed technical energy credits, OP1 and OP2.
When review was complete, the "STARS Steward" (AKA OoS designated contact) for each credit looked at the feedback and made adjustments before marking the final status as complete. Then Maria entered all of the info into STARS before a final review by Responsible Parties (Vice Presidents and Provosts). The President had a final review before his letter was attached and the assessment was submitted.
