A brief description of the institution’s green event certification program:
A Green Event checklist was created in 2012 to provide guidance to programs on campus when hosting an event. The checklist is a planning and self-assessment tool for departments. is filled out and submitted to the Sustainability Office for recognition.
The checklist includes points in the following areas:
• Transportation: active transport, public transport, video conf, etc.
• Food: organic/fair, vegetarian/vegan options
• Paper consumption: Minimization of print outs, use of reusable table cloths and place settings, rather than paper products
• Energy: lighting only in combination with daylight
• Communication: Includes education and announcements about sustainability practices being implemented at the event
Waste minimization: Recycling, food waste minimization, composting, education
