A brief description of the student group:
Utah) and Lowell Bennion Community Service Center. The following is a list and brief description of each group. "Natural Resources Law Forum: The NRLF provides educational opportunities by hosting on-campus speakers and professional development opportunities by hosting social events. Additionally, the NRLF works to promote campus sustainability; Students in Free Enterprise: SIFE projects address a variety of topics, such as market economics, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, personal success skills, environmental sustainability and business ethics. These projects, designed to create a better world for all who live in it, give students opportunity to be leaders and make a difference in the local community; Bennion Center Campus Recycling Program: Some activities include helping out with football game recycling, and providing bins, and making them accessible at campus-wide events, such as the Farmers Market, career days, etc. Any volunteers will be vital to make this a success; USGBC Students: Our affiliation with the U.S. Green Building Council and the Utah Chapter allows our student group to deliver benefits you won’t be able to get anywhere else, like: Discounts on LEED Workshops $150 for currently enrolled full-time students (Proof of full time enrollment required) Discounts on LEED Reference Guides $125 for currently enrolled full-time students (Proof of full time enrollment required) Greenbuild International; Net Impact Graduate chapter: The organization aims to develop and inspire a network of leaders who promote socially responsible practices that succeed in the global marketplace. Net Impact accomplishes this by providing University of Utah graduate students the knowledge, support and career network that will help them pursue careers in socially responsible businesses, nonprofit organizations and public management"--quoted from ASUU website, http://www.asuu.utah.edu/ "Environmental Action Team: Help improve the quality of our environment and learn new skills by participating in conservation and sustainability projects in Utah; Mountain View Social Justice Gardens: The Social Justice Gardens are focused on environmental justice and education. Students work with teachers to develop and integrate social justice-oriented lessons into curricula and tactile knowledge of gardening processes. By building a community garden, volunteers will cultivate lasting relationships with students, children, and families who have historically been marginalized from participating in the larger community. By helping build opportunities for families to grow their own produce and teaching children about gardening and the justice behind healthy food, U of U students can gain deeper knowledge about social justice and community development. SJG involves direct work in activism, community dialogue, service learning, education, gardening, food security, and environmental issues."--quoted from Bennion Center website, https://webapps.utah.edu/forms/bennion/studirprog/index.tpl
