The overarching goal in the Academics section of the Sustainability Action Plan is "Students have opportunities for learning about and researching sustainability in their discipline". To this end, Pacific aims to achieve the following targets: 1. 10% of courses incorporate sustainability and are offered by 45% of academic departments. 2. 25% of students graduate from programs that require an Understanding of Sustainability. 3. 10% of researchers and 40% of departments conduct sustainability related research.

The overarching goal in the Engagement section of the Sustainability Action Plan is "Sustainability is reflected in campus culture and community relations". To this end, Pacific aims to achieve the following targets: 1. 55% of students and 20% of employees learn about sustainability from their peers. 2. Sustainability is included in all student and employee orientations. 3. 50% of students engage in community service and a community service program for employees exists. 4. A campus wide sustainability culture Assessment is conducted. 5. Assess membership in 3rd Party Worker Rights, Fair Labor or Equivalent Organization.

The overarching goal in the Operations section of the Sustainability Action Plan is "Demonstrate responsible resource use and commitment to human health". To this end, Pacific aims to achieve the following targets: 1. 50% of energy is from renewable sources. 2. Complete a Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory. Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50%. 3. 50% of students and 30% of employees commute with clean transportation. 4. Reduce waste by 50% and divert 50% of waste from the landfill. 5. Achieve 25% energy reduction (Btu/ft2) from baseline. 6. Reduce outdoor water use (gal/acre) by 15% and decrease indoor water use (gal/ft2) by 30%. 7. 25% of electronics are certified Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) Gold or 100% Eco-Labeled. 8. Have and utilize criteria for building products.

The formal statement in support of sustainability:
Rather than formal plans, the university President has areas of interest that drive and infuse across university activities. Sustainability is one of the areas of interest. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion along with Community Impact are the others.

The institution’s definition of sustainability:
Sustainability Action Plan: Sustainability refers to the interconnectedness of environmental, social and economic systems. What happens in one system impacts what happens in another and all need to be healthy for people, economies and the environment to thrive. In this way we can meet our current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. My.Pacific: sustainability is having healthy social, environmental, and economic systems that allow us to meet our needs and have a high quality of life in economically viable ways that are within the limits of the natural systems we depend on. "
