A brief description of the institution’s community garden:
Pacific's Garden Program connects classroom learning to hands-on learning by bringing students together to grow food, address food insecurity and learn to be responsible stewards of the environment. The gardens also connect students to nature, and each other, and aid in stress relief.
There are two community gardens at Pacific. The Sacramento Campus Community Garden has oversight by the Sustainability Director and is otherwise run by student volunteers in McGeorge School of Law and School of Health Sciences. The garden is always accessible to walk through. Volunteer days are hosted several times a month and all volunteers share the harvest. The garden is also utilized by some Nutrition and Social Work classes.
The Ted and Chris Robb Garden is managed by a Garden Coordinator and several student gardeners. It is open during business hours for anyone to walk through. Produce is provided to the Food Pantry and to the community during weekly seasonal Markets. The community also engages with the garden activities through classes, events or volunteering.
