Green Team
A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
Green Team is a volunteer-based program which provides waste diversion education at campus events and supports other waste management programs including Green Move In and Green Move Out. Students are recruited continuously throughout the year and sign up for opportunities that are highlighted in the monthly Sustainability Champions newsletter. Volunteers are trained to not only tell event guests what goes where but to educate them about why and encourage them to make more sustainable choices.

All volunteers are current or recent students. Education is targeted at guests of campus events which include students, staff, faculty, families, visitors and community members.

Sustainability has 8-10 paid students who work on outreach, research and other projects that benefit sustainability programs and Pacific students. This team manages operations of the Food Pantry and Green Team, conducts research, organizes engagement events, creates content for social media channels and creates other digital communications.

The Ted and Chris Robb Garden has a team of 5-6 paid students who are trained to educate garden visitors about their work. This can include anything from vegetable identification, to sharing about more environmentally friendly growing practices or other food system issues.

A brief description of all other student peer-to-peer sustainability outreach and education programs:
The Sacramento Community Garden is maintained by student, staff and faculty volunteers in the McGeorge School of Law and Health Sciences Programs. It enriches the student experience by providing nutritious food, stress relief, hands on learning experiences and opportunities to meet and connect with fellow Pacificans. Student volunteers lead sessions on wellness, stress relief, and gardening methods. Any volunteers helping in the garden are welcome to take produce. This collaborative space was started by Environmental Law Society students in 2010.
