Four buildings/offices participate in the Office Compost Program. Interested offices work with Sustaining Pacific to train two appointed volunteer Recycling Captains. Once the captains are trained, they are responsible for training new employees and sending communications and reminders about waste in their building. Sustaining Pacific provides them with two email templates per year which include reminders, announcements and a waste sorting break down.

Once or twice per week depending on office size, a Sustaining Pacific representative picks up compost from the office. Recycling is picked up by custodial staff.

Compost Program Employee Educators: Sustainability staff train educators and collect compost and spend about 95 hours annually on the program. Educators attend an initial 1 hour training. After that, they have minimal responsibilities: Put correct items in correct bin; encourage colleagues to do the same; and notify sustainability staff if there are issues.
