UFV Vice President, Campus Planning and Facilities Management, Mark Goudsblom, works as a mayor-appointed member of the City of Abbotsford's (CoA) Transportation and Infrastructure Advisory Committee (DTIAC). As part of this committee, sustainable practices are advocated for across City planning policy initiatives, and a 'sustainability lens' is applied to bylaw reviews and transportation changes and recommendations, informing policy, development, and funding.
The Terms of Reference for the DTIAC is embedded in the June 25th Agenda Package (Submitted).
The purpose of the Development, Transportation and Infrastructure Advisory Committee is to maintain an effective channel of communication between Council and the community on issues related to land use, transportation, infrastructure, heritage (as it relates to development), bylaw and policy development and master plans and strategies.
In addition, the Committee reviews and provides recommendations regarding funding applications under the City’s Affordable Housing Opportunities Reserve Fund.
Key Accomplishments of the DTIAC include:
- Development of the Green Fleet Strategy to reduce Green House Gas emissions
- launching the new online engagement portal "Let's Talk Abbotsford"
- Review and completion of the Willband Creek Integrated Stormwater Management Plan
- Implementing $20 Summer Child and Youth Pass at City Recreation Centres
- Review and completion of the new Urban Infill Study
