The University Sustainability Task Force was created in September 2010, as directed by UDC's President. The Task Force was charged with developing a long term strategic vision on sustainability for UDC. The Task Force held several meetings which involved at least one member from each academic department, as well as students. Several open houses and community meetings were held to involve community members in the process as well. The Task Force developed a framework which provided general recommendations and potential actions for 16 different categories identified as integral to the sustainability of the University. The Task Force developed a Sustainability Strategic Plan for the University in May 2011.
