RecycleMania 2011

A brief description of the campaign(s):

UDC joined hundreds of other schools across the nation in Recyclemania, a friendly competition to promote recycling on campus. UDC reportd its performance on waste and recycling during a three-month period in the spring from February 2011 to April 2011. A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign(s):

UDC saw a marked improvement over the three month period of the competition from February to April, finishing second among the six universities in the District of Columbia that participated in the waste minimization category. UDC's diversion rate improved significantly from roughly 14% in the first week of the competition, reaching an average weekly recycling rate of 24.08% for the competition as a whole.
