A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):
The Office for Sustainability's Chief Sustainability Officer and two Program Coordinators provide educational presentations to the leadership of departments representing every AASHE STARS category, who become peer educators themselves when they disseminate the information to their colleagues and departments' employees. Leaders representing every academic college and managers of campus operations become peer-to-peer educators themselves after receiving their sustainability training and can form sub-committees to achieve sustainability goals.
OFS peer outreach also includes monthly meetings with the leaders of UTRGV's Staff Senate, Faculty Senate, and Student Government Association. These leaders disseminate the information provided from OFS to their organizations, who share the information further with their peers, and implement it into their organizations.

International Center for Sustainability Across Curriculum (ICSAC)
A brief description of the employee educators program (2nd program):
UTRGV worked in partnership with the Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) to host an intensive two-day faculty development program entitled the International Center for Sustainability Across the Curriculum (ICSAC) Conference in 2019. Growing out of our university’s successful Project Sin Fronteras, the program has a common goal that brings together faculty from all fields, allowing for an exchange of ideas nurturing an enriching collaborative atmosphere. This interdisciplinary exercise helps faculty to explore the shifts in pedagogy needed to incorporate sustainability concepts, problems, or solutions into new or existing courses. Drawn from experienced faculty and professionals on issues of sustainability, environment, and curriculum, these instructional materials, activities, and presentations will support the education for sustainable development in higher education.

The workshops aim to enhance existing skills and to develop best practices to promote excellence, effectiveness and efficiencies. Since leadership training is the most powerful way to transform institutions, all sessions contribute to sustainable futures at UTRGV.
