ScholarWorks is a digital service that collects, preserves, and distributes digital material. Repositories are important tools for preserving an organization's legacy; they facilitate digital preservation and scholarly communication.


ScholarWorks@UTRGV is the institutional repository for UTRGV and provides open access to journal articles, theses and dissertations, conference presentations, datasets, and unique materials related to faculty projects. ScholarWorks is hosted on bepress Digital Commons, a widely used repository platform.

A brief description of the open access journal hosting services:
Due to the unique position of UTRGV, some departments may be inclined to create a specialist journal that deals with regional or unique issues. The University Library can support this goal by hosting the journal and its workflow in Open Journals System (OJS). 

The University Library will only host journals that adhere to the code of conduct of the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA). Indexing in the Directory of Open Access Journals is a recommended path to ensure journal quality and integrity. 

The Journal of Epistolary Studies
JES aims to be the premier publication venue for all scholarship epistolary, publishing quality research in all areas of letters and letter writing. It is an articles-only journal published bi-annually in the spring and fall.

Río Bravo: A Journal of the Borderlands

Educational Borderlands: A Bilingual Journal
Educational Borderlands (EBBJ, ISSN 2475-1677) is a peer-reviewed journal examining educational borders, both literal and figurative. The scope is interdisciplinary, bicultural, transnational, and bilingual/multilingual. English and Spanish content.

Contemporary Research in Disability and Rehabilitation
The Contemporary Research in Disability and Rehabilitation (CRDR), is a peer-reviewed open access journal, published electronically on a quarterly basis by the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. This journal is designed to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration by publishing innovative qualitative and quantitative empirical research germane to disability, rehabilitation counseling, allied health, and other disability-related fields. In addition to original empirical research, the CRDR publishes conceptual manuscripts, position papers, comprehensive literature reviews, intensive case studies, and research critiques.
