Does the institution have a bicycle-sharing program or participate in a local bicycle-sharing program?:
Yes

A brief description of the bicycle sharing program:
In 2022, the Office of Sustainability and Campus Recreation’s Outdoor Pursuits program partnered to launch semester-long bicycle rentals for student applicants most in need of an independent means of transportation on and around campus. The program was partially funded by the Congestion Mitigation Air Quality Grant awarded to the Office of Sustainability. Fifteen bicycles were purchased for the program, and local vendor Ride Away Bicycles donated an additional three bikes. The program has seen consistent applications every semester since its conception.

In 2022, Beakcycle, a pilot bike share program was launched at UTSA's Main Campus. Kiosks were placed in student commuter lots and at the inner campus core. This allowed students to park in the outer lots and rent a university supplied bike from those lots to the core, or from the core to their cars.

VIA Link is an on-demand ride-sharing program, similar to Uber or Lyft, which allows customers to request a VIA Link passenger van to come to their location on-campus and pick them up for a ride to anywhere within the VIA Link Northwest Zone. This service is free for UTSA students and employees with their VIA U-Pass.

Charging stations are available in parking garages at both UTSA campuses.

Through the VIA U-Pass program, current students and employees have free, unlimited access to VIA Metropolitan Transit bus service between campuses and throughout San Antonio. This program begun in Fall 2019 and is currently ongoing.
