In summer 2013, President Natalicio appointed members to UTEP's first committee on sustainability. Comprised of students, faculty, and staff, the President's Advisory Committee on Sustainability met for the first time in August 2013. The committee decided to assess the state of sustainability on campus by registering for STARS. Since that time committee members have been assembling information for the university's first ever report to STARS.

There is currently a President's Advisory Committee on Sustainability directed by UTEP staff and formed in 2013. The committee is currently in the process of formalizing the charter. The committee has been working on gathering data for submission in STARS. Currently, a website for this committee is not available.
There is also a student organization, UTEP Students of Sustainability, which aims to bring together students and organizations alike to promote social and environmental sustainability throughout our community. By empowering leadership, education, and sustainability together we will build a better tomorrow. See below for th elink to th student organization.
