A brief description of the institution’s featured program, initiative, or accomplishment:
UT Dallas co-leads RCE North Texas as part of the global network of Regional Centres for Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development organized by United Nations University. RCE North Texas connects higher education, k-12 education, industry, local government, and non-profit to address the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the North Texas Region. RCE North Texas has prioritized SDG 2 - No Hunger, SDG 4 - Quality Education, SDG 9 - Industry, Infrastructure and Innovation, SDG 11 - Sustainable Communities, and SDG 13 - Climate Action.

Second Point of Distinction
Sustainability Research Institute Seed Grant Process
A brief description of the second program/initiative/accomplishment:
The UT Dallas Office of Sustainability and the Office of Research and Innovation have collaborated for a process to facilitate trans-disciplinary research focused on the SDGs by hosting workshops and a seed grant process to establish a Sustainabiltiy Research Institute and support sustainability research by under-represented groups. The seed grant applications are currently being reviewed.

Third Point of Distinction
UTD Eco Hub
A brief description of the third program/initiative/accomplishment:
The UTD Eco Hub is a 2.5 acre complex for student leadership, service, and learning related to sustainability. The Eco Hub is anchored by a 1/2 acre student-run, organic farm that addresses food insecurity by donating all harvest to the campus food pantry and to North Texas Food Bank partner pantries. The Eco Hub also features one of our two campus apiaries where students assist with building bee boxes, decorating, installing bees, managing hives, harvesting honey, bottling, and ultimately selling Comet Honey on campus, with funds utilized for student-led projects. The Eco Hub also features a large pollinator area, small orchard, student murals, and will soon add a greenhouse.
