The Provost Office conducted the COACHE (Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education) faculty job satisfaction survey on a regular basis. The most recent survey was conducted in spring 2023.
In spring 2022, the "Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Learning Survey" was administered to non-academic staff at the beginning of a structured assessment and action process. Student opinions on campus diversity are gathered through the Student Experience in the Research University (SERU).
The following description reflects current activities as of summer 2024. Please see Notes section below and PRE-1 regarding impact of Texas Senate Bill 17 on our STARS submittal.
Starting in Spring 2024, UT Austin initiated the Change Starts With Us Survey, sent to all faculty and staff. The CSWU Survey asks about employee experiences. Results will be turned into actionable items that will be sent to department heads.

Such efforts were part of a comprehensive assessment undertaken according to the University Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan (UDIAP) in place at the time and through guidance from the UT Austin Financial and Administrative Services Equity, Diversity and Inclusion committee (which was discontinued prior to Jan 1, 2024.
A number of assessment findings were used in development of the UDIAP, including data from SERU, the Employee Engagement Survey, the faculty report produced by IUPRA, and data gathered by the Campus Climate Response Team. Additionally, input was gathered from across campus to ensure colleges, Faculty and Staff Councils and Student Government had input into creation of the plan.
Student outcomes related to diversity, equity and success were gathered through the university's Student Success Initiatives.

The university continues to gather and report data connected to the demographics of students and employees. However, these data are no longer used in shaping policy, programs and initiatives.
