Research Inventory
Inventory of the institution’s sustainability research:
A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
The UT Austin Office of Sponsored Projects provides a list of active research projects which provides the total number of Principal Investigators who engage in research and their affiliated research units (a researcher may be associated to multiple units). The list of projects is compared against previous lists to identify concluded and new grants. New grants are initially reviewed by key word and phrase criteria (same criteria as used for AC1). Office of Sustainability staff then review those projects returning any criteria hit to determine if the project is clearly sustainability-related or possibly related. Only clearly related projects are used in STARS calculation. Changes in 2022 methodology: - Office of Sustainability staff integrated all Academic Departments identified for AC1, some of which do not engage in research with Organized Research Units described above. - All departments/units were evaluated for active research not listed by the Office of Sponsored Projects, and also for faculty professional publications. Many new sustainability related endeavors were identified.
