A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
The UT Austin Office of Sponsored Projects provides a spreadsheet of active research projects which provides the total number of staff who engage in research and their affiliated research units (a researcher may be associated to multiple units). The list of projects is matched to the previous STARS 2018 AC9 submittal for ongoing projects (which also identifies new projects since 2018) and also filtered by key word and phrase criteria (same criteria as used for AC1). This provides a rough sort for possibly sustainability related projects. Office of Sustainability staff then reviewed those projects returning any criteria hit to determine if the project is clearly sustainability related or possibly related. Only clearly related projects are used in STARS calculation.
