Although there is no evidence of explicit support for policy changes, UTA spends a lot of it's efforts on research and collaborating with local organizations across sectors to educate and advocate for the UN Sustainability Goals to North Texas stakeholders through RCE (Regional Center for Expertise on Sustainability Education).
Interim President Teik Lim highlighted the founding of RCE (Regional Center for Expertise on Sustainability Education) North Texas chapter as a major sustainability achievement that connects local governments in North Texas to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in his 4 year reflection at UTA. RCE North Texas was formed as a step towards the "Sustainable Communities" theme in the 2020 Strategic Plan. These local governments include City of Dallas, City of Lewisville, City of Fort Worth, and many more. The North Texas RCE chapter focuses on sustainable development goals 2 (Zero Hunger), 4 (Quality Education), 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
