A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
The Eco-Reps program is a peer-to-peer education program for all UTA students to educate their fellow UTA student body on sustainability issues with direct support from the Office of Sustainability. The Eco-Reps promote recycling, composting, energy conservation and more within resident halls, student organizations, and they implement other ways to make going green easier and more fun for students.
The Eco-Reps attend two training sessions about environmental education, community-based social marketing, equity in environmental education, creating marketing materials, and more.
One outreach activity that the Eco-Reps led in Fall 2021 was facilitating a trivia table at the Office of Sustainability's electronic waste drive. The Eco-Reps created a set of trivia questions in 3 different categories about e-waste and educated about 200 students that stopped by at the table that day.
