Does the institution offer at least one sustainability-focused major, degree program, or the equivalent for graduate students?:
Yes

Name of the sustainability-focused graduate-level degree program:
MS in Environmental and Earth Sciences

A brief description of the graduate-level degree program:

The EES graduate program in Earth and Environmental Sciences is designed to provide a graduate student an integrated, multidisciplinary education, nurtured through a carefully tailored degree program requiring a breadth of understanding and mastery of a spectrum of scientific and engineering principles. Among the goals is to provide students who have earned science or engineering undergraduate degrees a common ground for interdisciplinary communication, an understanding of the Earth and the environment, and competence in a discipline that will allow them to evaluate and solve complex geoscience or environmental problems.

PhD in Environmental and Earth Sciences

A brief description of the graduate degree program (2nd program):

PH.D. IN EARTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES
The EES doctoral program provides students with the interdisciplinary knowledge and skills to conduct independent research in Earth and Environmental Sciences. Students conduct dissertation research under the supervision of a faculty member in one of the participating departments (Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Civil and Environmental Engineering, or Urban and Public Affairs). The supervising professor and a faculty committee assign courses in this primary area of emphasis to support the student’s research and professional goals. To provide interdisciplinary training, additional courses are assigned in a secondary area of emphasis. If they have not already done so in their previous work, all doctoral students must take one engineering course; two science courses; and one course in policy or planning.

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN SUSTAINABLE BUILDING TECHNOLOGY

A brief description of the graduate degree program (3rd program):

Master of Science in Sustainable Building Technology is a 30 credit post-professional degree that answers the need for practitioners in a diverse number of fields to gain a more comprehensive understanding of new emerging technologies in the areas of sustainability and building performance. Students in this program will gain expertise in three primary areas:

Advanced design of building system integration
Advanced environmental system design
Advanced performance-based design
Students with a professional degree in architecture, interior design, civil engineering, and architectural engineering are all encouraged to apply. The degree plan is set up for working professionals and is unique compared to other building technology degrees for how it culminates with a design thesis.

Does the institution offer one or more graduate-level sustainability-focused minors, concentrations or certificates?:
Yes

Name of the graduate-level sustainability-focused minor, concentration or certificate:
ENVIRONMENTAL AND SUSTAINABILITY STUDIES MINOR

A brief description of the graduate minor, concentration or certificate:

The minor offers undergraduates across the campus -- from Liberal Arts and Architecture to Science and Interdisciplinary Studies -- a set of tools for understanding the social, political, humanistic, and scientific dimensions of climate change and other environmental problems. Taking advantage of the many courses on sustainability and the environment offered throughout the university, this broadly interdisciplinary program provides students a powerful way to enrich their education and more effectively apply their major field of study to some of the most complex and crucial problems of the 21st century.

SUSTAINABLE ENGINEERING MINOR

A brief description of the graduate minor, concentration or certificate (2nd program):

The Sustainable Engineering Minor prepares students in all engineering disciplines to ask questions and analyze problems from a sustainable engineering perspective, and develop sustainable solutions. Students seeking the minor must successfully complete the following courses with a grade of C or better and two electives from the civil, electrical, mechanical and aerospace, or material sciences engineering departments

Introduction to Sustainable Engineering,
Operations Research
Sustainable Engineering Design Project
Principles of Macroeconomics or Economics for Engineers
