The Chair of the Working Group on Curriculum Research and Community Engagement surveyed the sustainability experts and researchers listed on the University’s sustainability website (http://www.uta.edu/sustainability/academics/faculty-experts.php ; accessed 8/11/2010, data covering 1 year), and on the linked listings of the Center for Renewable Science and Technology (http://www.uta.edu/ra/real/editprofile.php?pid=1312&onlyview=1 ) and the Ecology Group (http://biology.uta.edu/ecology_group/people.htm ). The total number of tenured and tenure-track faculty for fall 2009 was obtained from data provided by Institutional Research and Planning (IRP). Because all faculty identified as conducting sustainability related research are tenured or tenure-track, the total number of faculty in these categories was used in scoring. Various other classifications of faculty, such as part-time lecturers, were excluded because they do not usually conduct research. Graduate teaching assistants were excluded both from the count of faculty engaged in sustainability research and the count of total faculty.
