It excludes the UT Space Institute in Tullahoma, the UT Health Science Center in Memphis, UT satellite campuses such as Chattanooga and Martin, and the Institute of Agriculture satellite properties and buildings.

The rationale for excluding any features that are present from the institutional boundary:
The University of Tennessee satellite campuses and institutes located in Chattanooga, Martin, Tullahoma, and Memphis are excluded from this STARS report as they have different governing actors and Chancellors than the UT Knoxville campuses and are classified as separate universities by the statewide higher education system. The UT Medical Center in Knoxville separated from the University of Tennessee in 1999 and is therefore not included in the institutional boundary.
